    Save Money

Looking for a way to cut our cell bill. We currently have three lines (all phones paid for....two Moto G7 and a iPhone 11) through Verizon. We pay $168 a month for 24GB plus 2GB of bonus data but typically use 10-15GB a month. We are located in the suburbs outside Chicago. Open to any suggestions. Thanks!

I suggest you consider using an MVNO/prepaid service such as Tracfone or Straight Talk (for example). You can visit a Best Buy, Target store for more details and pricing. Based on the phones you listed, should be no trouble switching service. Make sure to ask specific questions that arise before committing to any service.

To move your phones to another service they will need to be paid in full and unlocked.

Is 24GB, with 10-15 typical, for each each phone or all three combined?

    Check options at https://prepaidcompare.net/

Thanks for all the responses. That's 10-15 typical for all three lines combined. I did contact Verizon and they said they could do prepaid for three lines for 6GB on each line for $85 with auto pay. How does Verizon prepaid compare to Totalwireless (besides 6 GB per line for Verizon vs 60GB combined for Totalwireless)?

How is the Vzw bill so high for a 24GB plan? The reason I'm asking is because Vzw's lowest unlimited data plan for 3 lines would be $135/mo and even the next 2 levels of Vzw unlimited plans would only be $165/mo (+ taxes/fees). https://www.verizonwireless.com/supp...are-unlimited/

One of the cheapest plans that might fit your needs is the Red Pocket "Unlmtd Everything 5GB LTE" plan from https://www.ebay.com/itm/133058350672. It costs $240 for a 360 days plan and provides UT&T&D with 5GB/30 days LTE, which is $20/30 days. For 3 lines, you would buy 3 plans, and then each line will get 5GB LTE/30 days.

Another possibility is Visible https://www.visible.com/. It has unlimited everything for $25/mo if you join a Party Pay group. As far as I can tell, the Moto G7 and iPhone 11 phones are compatible with Visible.

I believe so. I was limited on time so didn't get too in depth with them (was on chat). From their website it looks like it's actually a 3 GB plan per phone with a bonus of 3 GB of data on each.

Wow. Maybe the difference is just older plan pricing vs the newer unlimited plan pricing I linked above? Anyway, $168/mo total is a LOT for 24 (26) GB/mo!

Things might have changed, and/or things might be different in different locations, but when my son used Vzw Prepaid, the only tax on his plan was sales tax, and there were no additional fees. But definitely that should be verified for pmsmith2032's specific situation.

We moved a line from AT&T postpaid to Verizon Prepaid in December 2019. Here in Virginia there were no (significant) additional taxes and fees. There may have been the Va 50 cent prepaid fee, but that was it.

What they do in Illinois/Chicago could be somewhat different.

Yes, they have been doubling the base data amount for a while.

Thanks! So which is the better option, Verizon Prepaid or something like Total Wireless"

Verizon Prepaid - 6 GB per line for $85 plus fees and taxes
Total Wireless - 60 GB total data for $80

It looks like Total Wireless uses Verizon's network. Is it worth getting less data and paying a little more to stick with Verizon?
