Att postpaid ending 3g only phone activation How about prepaid?

Att is ending postpaid activations on 3g only non lte devices on Feb 19,2020.Anyone know if this extends to Att prepaid? And will you be able to put an activated sim and swap it with a inactive 3g only non lte device after activation shut off for a "warm swap"?

Well, since AT&T's 3G network is being shutdown, so it won't last long anyways... Well, relatively speaking... In 2022.

Can you provide a source for this date? The only thing I see is mid-2019 that seems not to have happened.

    AT&T:
We’ll be shutting down our 3G/non-LTE 4G (UMTS/HSPA+) network starting around early 2022.
Find out how it will affect your wireless device.

I don't see anything there about activations.
iPhone 11 is my current primary phone. But I have more phones than lines. Back to only Prepaid with the changes in the economy.

There's nothing stopping you from moving the SIM to an older device (calling, texting, and data should still work), but there will also come a day that that device just won't work. From what I can think of, the times when the detection of a device type tends to come into play is for VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, and/or if data is set up automatically (phones where you can't enter the APN).

If they're doing any kind of IMEI filtering, worst-case, you could probably activate a SIM in a newer device and move it to an older device.
