Is Doro 7050 compatible on Verizon branch?

I’m helping an older friend with his phone change on Tracfone-VZ. Their zip code listing says the Doro 7050 is compatible for his zip code(VZ), which is his only TF carrier. I ordered the phone from HSN, but now, after reading the reviews on their site, it appears the Doro is not compliant for VZ. Can anyone confirm my fears?

    Thanks!

Says it's GSM only. No soap for VZW.

Go to the Verizon website if you already have a phone and want to check compatibility. Do a search for "BYOP" (Bring Your Own Phone). When prompted, enter the phone IMEI and it will confirm compatibility.

Unfortunately I can confirm your fears. The Doro sold on HSN (and maybe at other places too) is model D7050TL, the "TL" indicates TF/T-mobile. If you friend only has Verizon service at his location, the alternative is the Alcatel MyFlip . It's around $15-$20 at Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, without bundled units/days. Look for the RED U.S. map on the box, which indicates Verizon (Blue is AT&T, Pink is T-mobile), although I think that's the only version.

An inexpensive way to get a $15 throw away phone unlocked ? Am I missing some thing?

Every carrier has a version of the MyFlip. Just get one from the carrier you want. If you want to switch carriers just buy another phone.

The MyFlip is a DL model, so can run on other carriers within the Tracfone companies. They come with a Verizon SIM (except the Simple Mobile version), but can be used on the other carriers with an activated SIM.

I'm looking for a similar phone that comes unlocked for USA and intl use.
I saw them for 50 on ebay but this beats it. I need a few of them so it adds up

What does DL stand for as in the next post?

The last two letters of a Tracfone model number:
    - AL: AT&T LTE
    - VL: Verizon LTE
    - TL or BL: T-mobile LTE
    - DL: the phone can be used with AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon.

It appears that all new releases by Tracfone and its sister companies are DL models.
The phones are locked for use outside of a Tracfone sister Company
The phones are unlocked for use within the Tracfone family of companies.
If you want to use it with other than the SIM it came with, than ask for assistance here with what you need to know.

Look for inexpensive off-brand 3G GSM phones. These may work in the USA and overseas.

Someone in another thread guessed DL might stand for "Dual LTE".
