Meh... $10 for something I might not use very much of is intriguing. Anything more borders on being out of my scope. Overseas, I'm not as concerned about lte Data as much as I just want some data for Google maps, Yelp and other text apps.

Nothing like freedompop practices at all. It’s just a normal hotspot plan like all the other providers offer

This can't be phone specific. Should work with any unlocked gsm phone with T-mobile bands.

You probably have to set the apn to fast.t-mobile.com

Not talking about their shady billing practices.

Just wondering if it works like the AT&T lte sim on Freedompop - just data but on T-mobile

The one I have does work just like a FP SIM, with no voice service, but it does work for native texting, as I get T-Mobile account texts on it.

I take relatively regular trips to Canada, so it is very useful to me.

Since I use data only on my cell phones, primarily with GV + Hangouts, but also with TextNow, Viber, and FB Messenger, my T-Mo data only SIM, along with my 1GB/mo FP prepaid SIM, which I use in an ancient Unite hotspot, provide all the cellular data I need monthly.

I go to Canada at least monthly, so I just keep the T-Mobile SIM in my phone.

This is the reason I've been so much wanting a decent dual SIM phone, ie, the Umidigi F2. But I've decided against it because I decided that it won't be worth it to spend so much on a phone that doesn't have an excellent camera, especially since the Pixel 3a has been on sale multiple times over the past 6 months at Best Buy for $199.99 when signing up for Sprint. So now, FINALLY, I've decided for sure that I'll be buying a Pixel 3a if/when it goes back to $199.99 with a new Sprint line at BB.

Then I'll just wait/hope/pray that either T-Mobile or FP will add eSIM support for either of the respective SIMs I use for data, and in the meantime, continue using my ancient Unite hotspot with my FP SIM.

so this tmobile data only sim works in the E4?
simply pop it in? or did you have to change some settings?
128Kbps, which is enough to use my GV #s via Hangouts.

Yes, and yes, as I also mentioned above.

Regarding the FP prepaid data only SIM card, there is no opportunity for "freedompop practices".

The FP prepaid data only SIM card works flawlessly.

It would also provide UT&T (VoIP) via the FP Messaging app if so desired, but I simply use it, along with the T-Mo data only SIM card, for data only for use with GV + Hangouts, TextNow, Viber, and FB Messenger.

I would expect that to be true, except I still mention that it might be blocked on a T-Mo specific model, even if unlocked, although I've been told by other posters that it shouldn't matter.

    Yours doesn't do texts?

Mine has a phone # and texts do work.

I wonder if that is determined by device, or perhaps on when the SIM was activated?

But for sure there is no native voice service.

I have the $10 Postpaid Mobile Broadband plan which is 2GB LTE + unlimited texting, then throttled to 128k. It also includes international roaming as noted above.

It will work in a phone, but I don’t know for how long. I do know that some promo plans (eg, the free 200MB data for life) will work in a phone for only a short period of time, then stop working until put into a hotspot or tablet. Boz seems to have his working for quite a while, so based on his experience I would think it should continue working.

FWIW, there is tax and a small regulatory fee applied, so the bill is more like $11 per month.

Why don't you get a local SIM there (pre-paid)? In some countries those are like $10/month or less. I can pay with my US credit card to re-charge those (personally I use Vodafone).
First payment might take a while because your CC provider and the cell provider in EU will double-check is this is a real charge, but after that the transaction is white-listed.

I could do that... But I was intrigued by the idea of using this T-Mobile service as a dual purpose of low power home Internet and for traveling as well.
