I had Cricket (AT&T) and Sprint before that, and I don't feel that Visible is worse than those two overall. T Mobile might be great in 4G and 5G coverage areas, but I've never tried it.

When you say GSM, I think you mean 2G. That's what Google tells me at least.

In fairness, GSM *is* 2G. 3G "GSM" is not GSM at all, any more than FM is AM in your car radio. 3G "GSM" is technically UMTS, or WCDMA (not to be confused with CDMA like Verizon or Sprint uses).

"GSM" is mostly used around here as a legacy term used to describe carriers (like AT&T and T-Mobile) who use (or used) GSM for 2G, UMTS for 3G, LTE for 4G.

T-Mobile, unlike AT&T, has left a low-capacity GSM 2G network operating mostly for non-phone equipment that isn't easily or cheaply upgraded, like alarm systems, credit card terminals, GPS trackers, and other M2M devices.

GSM, UMTS, and LTE aren't just faster and better versions of the same thing, they were completely different technologies overlaid on top of each other.

I went to ATT prepaid back when they had the 8gb bonus on top of the 8gb plan. The price was $3 more per line and the data is better than Cricket plus free hotspot.
