"checking browser" message every time visit howardforums.com/forum

Now I am seeing this page display message every time I go to visit howardforums.com/forum or to howardforums.com :

Checking your browser before accessing howardforums.com.
This process is automatic. Your browser will redirect to your requested content shortly.

Please allow up to 5 seconds…
That includes a bubbly blue horizontal dancing dots at the left or left & right sides of that display message.

Unusual to me, I don't understand it, not seen it until a few days ago, but seems to only display a short few seconds and then browser goes to howardsforums or /forum. So, no obstacle.

This is in Windows 10, Google Chrome incognito mode; and I believe but not remember also in Firefox. I should check in other browsers too but not yet remember what saw or if tried.

I would be interested in what the message really means or what HoFo is doing.

Looks like the HoFo is under attack again and CloudFlare protection has been turned on.

The text you missed on that screen that says "DDoS protection by Cloudflare" is your answer. Our server team turns that on when unusual activity is suspected to prevent denial-of-service attacks from taking the site offline.

I did miss part of the quote, since I made the copy as fast as I could before the warning page disappeared. Now, it's understood better.
