What happens to cash balance when switching from Paygo to monthly plan?

I have a large balance on a Paygo plan.
If I switch to a monthly plan, by adding a plan PIN, what happens to the Paygo balance that is left?
Will the balance be used to renew the monthly plan, each month, till the balance runs out?
If not, what does happen to the cash balance. The current expiration date for the Paygo balance is in April.

You don't have to add a pin to change to a monthly plan. All you have to do is contact tech support through chat.

They can change the plan for you and they will take the pin from your existing balance. You will use up your balance first before they use any pins.

    Thanks for the info.
That’s what I hoped would happen, but I wasn’t sure if that’s how it worked.

You might still have to pay attention to the cash balance expiration date and add a new PIN before the expiration date to keep the cash balance available to use until it's used up by monthly plan costs. That's how it used to be. Hopefully someone will correct me if that's been changed.

So, I would need to add a $10 PIN every 120 days so that the monthly plan will renew every month, until the balance is used up?
That makes sense to me, but I guess I should check?
Do you think they tell me this over chat?

I suggest you do an online chat to confirm the details. Make certain you have the current balances/expiration date prior to the change. Save a copy of your online conversation to back you up. Best wishes.

Yes, but no matter what you're told by a CSR, STILL keep track of the cash balance expiration date!

Yes, you definitely need to add a 10$ pin every 3 months to keep the balance active or they will expire it.

    I speak from experience.

Yep. They did tell me that.
I chatted with a rep and got the phone switched to the $12 plan.
After restarting the phone, the balance and expiration date appear to be correct. I have set a reminder to apply a $10 before the expiration date.

What happens when you get the cash balance down to less than the next monthly plan charge? Do you just let it expire?

Can a cash balance be used for overages while on a monthly plan?

Either add enough cash balance to renew the plan or add a $12 PIN.

Yes. And as long as a new plan is purchased every 30 days, the remaining cash balance never expires.

Yes cash balance will be used for overages as well.

If you run below $12, you can either add another 10$ paygo pin or add a regular $12 pin

I'm not clear on all of this. As long as there's still enough cash balance to cover the monthly plan, will it automatically renew the monthly using funds from the cash balance (kind of like auto pay, or pin stacking) ? Or, what must be done each month ?

Yes, will use cash balance first to renew plan.
