Looks like after Metro, Simple mobile will be one of the first non directly owned by the Big 4's prepaid brands to get 5G. The issue now is the availability of compatible handsets and what does it have to offer besides more speed.

Galaxy S10 5G and Note 10 5G look like decent bets. Iphone/Apple fans will have to wait till 2020, but that's a stone's throw of a year away.

Wonder when we'll see other non Tmobile prepaid carriers get 5G. Network still isn't truly going to cover as many as their LTE does or even Att/Verizon networks do but it's a start. The old cdma Metro and Cricket had horrible gaps in their coverage but brought in tons of business before their buyouts by Tmo and Att. Thought that was a different era.

Should be fast freaky 5G FUN. lol . Happy Holidays everyone and New Year.

I wouldn't expect that to happen for at least a couple years at this point given those two's current network plans. Verizon already charges extra for 5G, and AT&T is expected to per past earnings calls, so MVNOs would have to account for this. Maybe have a more expensive plan that 5G phones only work with?

If they will raise everyone's plans to pay for "5G" that would be showing that 5G is just a revenue enhancing scheme for carriers.

"LTE Advanced" didn't even hit his maximum potential and they are pushing for 5G. You get maybe a 20% bump in speed... compared to the LTE that's not utilized anyway at max.

T-Mobile desperately wants to be seen as technical advanced. When you can't provide decent coverage, it's easy... Add 10..15 "5G" sites and let MVNO's use them too. It's not like they have a huge usage on those sites right now.
