Unlocked Moto G7 vs Moto G7 purchased from Google fi. Any drawbacks to go unlocked?

If I have an unlocked Moto G7 will it work the same on Google fi as the Moto G7 that Google sells? Basically I'm wondering if it will switch between networks like the one from Google Fi? Thanks

Yes it works the same. I have used an Unlocked G7 on fi, all the features were available.

Great, thanks. I thought that was the case but wanted to be sure.

AFAIK, the base model G7 does not have T-Mobile's band 71. The G7 Power and Play models do.

That is surprising since the G7 is the higher end model of the 3 but does match what the spec sheets say. I wondered if it was a type-o but found a few other sources complaining about the lack of band 71 as well.
