Even my new S10? Or my son's new iPhone 11 Pro Max?
Ah, no? I would have to buy a new $1000+ phone?

Most of the people that upgraded this year will keep their phone for 3-4 years. We won't upgrade just for the sake of getting 5G, it's just not worth to normal people.
    Hence my question about priority...

True. Plus we are still waiting for CBRS B48 which a number of people upgraded to the S10 for. The S11 will be out in 4 months or so.

The SD 765 is coming out in 2020 and that will be used on mid tier phones. So 5G will be on more affordable devices

Point of order: 5G exclusively uses TDD. Current FDD frequencies will be converted into two separate blocks each.

I’m also pretty sure all 5G uses full-duplex.

For lower frequencies it will be FDD. So it will be able to be shared dynamically. TDD will be only for microwave.

Sorry, I meant new phones so as people upgrade the phones will be 5G whether they care or not.

I'm sure you mean millimeter wave. But it will also be TDD on CBRS and CBAND

Not true. T-Mobile's 5G on band 71 is FDD

In order that DSS to work, is absolutely needed that 5G and 4G in that specific band to be the same technology (FDD or TDD).
On mm wave and CBRS, there is no need for compatibility because... there will be no DSS there.
CBRS is by definition a "shared" band, regardless of technology and carrier.

Verizon will be fine when they can get rid of or greatly increase the limits on their "unlimited" plans. Obviously they don't have the spectrum for that currently
Tell you the truth I'm more interested in coverage rather than speed. In Honolulu I've mostly connected to either band 2 or 4 in the city.Band 12 connects out in the rural areas. Building penetration at work is very weak on bands 2 and 4. Hopefully, band 71 will offer better coverage in doors.

Band 71 is not going to be much better than band 13 in coverage. And now it's going to be the same 5 MHz downlink band 12 is, instead of the 20 MHz that T-Mobile bought because they are giving 15 MHz to 5G.

All hail to the 5G... that nobody asked for!
They can't cover decently the areas they have licenses in 4G and now they want to brag about 5G. They're so hip! Also, in some insane business decision, they hope the "5G" it will help with their Sprint acquisition, raising their shares value.
