This is a severely good deal if AT&T or Sprint will work for you.

A couple months ago I would have bought this.

How long can I wait to activate this 365 or 30 days?

Do you happen to have a different AT&T compatible phone that you could use for some more testing?
I do, but it's kind of on the fritz. I'll just look for more anecdotes.

If I were to switch, do you know if I would order as a new customer? I guess so, because I'd need a new SIM.. and I'm not attached to the phone # since I use GV and forward....

90 days is the activation deadline I believe.

Verizon will be better than AT&T. At least you will have volte/HD voice on Verizon

I don't know about Sprint coverage here in Oklahoma. His phone is an at&t phone unlocked and using a T-Mobile mvno right now. So not sure about the bands for Sprint.

I've fallen out of the loop on Redpocket over the last 9 months.

Do they work well with Google Voice on their Verizon side of things? (e.g. call forwarding, etc)

Redpocket's Verizon network is labeled as their CDMA network. By name alone, it seems to imply that it only works on CDMA - is that true?

    TIA

RP Vzw should still work fine with GV.

No, that's not correct. New activations on the Vzw network must use VoLTE compatible devices. Red Pocket Vzw works just like any Vzw MVNO.

Thanks Boz1. I knew CDMA was a thing of the past, but I completely lost track of the cut off dates. This is info is super helpful.

I just ported out if Page Plus to Red Pocket CDMA-V

The account number I used was my phone number, password I used was the web/online account management.

Port took about 2 minutes. Could not make a call or access the internet until I plugged the sim into my Umidigi phone and dialed 1 to select English as my language as prompted by the ivr system. Oddly enough, did not work on a Motorola G4 or Orbic Wonder. Could not detect that I was dialing a number. Trying to put the apn on failed to get it working.

Tried to activate first using meid from umidigi phone but as expected, it failed. Used the meid Orbic wonder instead.

To start with, mms was not working. But sms worked. To finally get it working, I had to reset my apn settings.

for anyone curious, if you already have an existing line on red pocket you can use your existing sims. I had an old expiring 360 day plan, purchased the 5Gb plan, which was different than the old plan, and used the "already had a pin" box to input the activation code that red pocked emailed me, and it converted the existing line/account into the new plan

    Odd

I made the switch, called up because the queue for chat was much longer.

After he made the reuqest on the back end, cust svc said call back in one hour to check on the status of the transfer, and complete it

When I did that, and put the CDMA SIM in and tried to make a test phone call, the automated verizon greeting asking me tp press "1"for English seemed like it couldn't "hear" my touch tones.

Several reboots, and cust svc girl requesting help from the back-end finally got it past that Press "1" for English.

At least I think it was on the back end. I was also toggling the switch for "Enhanced 4G LTE mode" and I specifically selected "Preferred Network Type" of "LTE / CDMA", for which there previously had never been any selection made.

So I don't know what pushed it through but one thing I notice is that there's no APN settings anymore to be found. I'm running Android Pie. Not sure where u found this ShedFred.

Not sure but I guess the CDMA SIM makes the phone hide these settings.

Also, on GSMA, we used to be able to dial *777*1# (USS CODE) and get a popup of how much data is left in the month.

    Doesn't work on CDMA-V.

If anyone knows the code, I'd appreciate it.

I am running Android pie also. By defaults my apn menu settings are hidden as well. I thought my issue was specific to my phone but maybe other phone have similar issues. They were not hidden on the orbic wonder or Motorola G4.

To reveal the apn menu I had to disable the menu item enable 4g(has no effect)

Dial *#*#4636# *#* and go to phone information and change preferred network to lte only

    Reboot phone

On page plus, I had to set apn to Tracfone.vzwentp and to get mms working, had to play with some settings.

But since moving to red pocket CDMAV, I did not need to change any apn settings. Everything works for me with the defaults after doing an apn reset. As far as I can tell, preferred network is set to lte/cdma/umts, apn is vzwinternet.

As I wrote earlier, I had that weird issue to with the press 1 for English message. Took a few tries but once it took, my phone service started working.
