The problem with Mint (for me) is they have no answer to international data. Not that I've been doing much travel lately.
Don't they have international roaming? With my grandfathered T-Mobile plan, it never worked for me. I had to use a local SIM

I believe Mint has international roaming for calls, but nothing for data.

T-Mobile eliminated international data on my plan a couple years ago when they removed the option of purchasing global data passes. It's like they want to kill the plan off, but not really.

This is correct. Their international roaming is calls only, each country has a different price per minute and basically you add a set amount to your account (5,10,$20) and it deducts from that.

At least their site shows international roaming rates for calls, text, and data.

Interesting. It does appear they added data rates to their international roaming. The rates aren't great by any means, (take spain for example, 1gb of data would be $200) but, it appears they at least now offer it. I stand corrected.

oh, I didn't see that either, they don't make it obvious.

for anyone who is interested, Mint Mobile's by-country rate check is here. I hope they text subscribers when they arrive in each country as to the data rate, as some of them are crazy high and someone could get into trouble really quickly.

Well, at least as much trouble as they've prepaid into their "UpRoam" account...

AFAIK, with Mint you have to buy prepaid roaming credit which is then depleted by your roaming usage- when you run out of credit you can't roam anymore until you replenish, so you won't have a big surprise bill like you might have on postpaid.
