Nice to see AWS-3/J Block as primary rolling out across metro Detroit. This one in Romeo, MI.

Are these nodes not active yet for mmW?

Probably are live. My plan doesn’t have 5G access yet.

Oh ok. I hear they’ve gone bonkers with density down there , true?

Absolutely not. That couldn’t be further than the truth. They have 2 or 3 small cells in Lewes and Rehoboth combined — a pathetic number & none of which actually serve areas that need them. I did see a new metrocell (pictured below) at one of the Tanger Outlets, however it’s not live just yet.

They seem to be updating sites so every licensed band is being used. With B2/B4/B5/B13/B66, that’s 60MHz of DL capacity, which isn’t bad at all. B5 is 10MHz here - also good.

Overall AT&T still has more sites (including C-RAN/small cells) and is much more consistent — especially in rural parts outside of the Delaware Beaches area.

Verizon just installed CBRS/mmW nodes on a macro site in Port Newark NJ. This faces the airport and US 1-9. They’ve been busy lately putting CBRS on macro sites even in non urban areas.

Wait until after the auction and it clears for deployment and they can just turn it on

Yes and whatever they win in the PAL slot they can still combine with GAA access if it’s available. I hope they gun for 30-40 MHz nationwide.

I definitely notice a difference in speeds in the fiber backhaul macros - about double the speed. Interestingly the ping times are about double too - opposite of what I would expect. Unless it’s taking a less favorable path to the speed test server?
