Question Should I turn off auto-update of the apps

My galaxy note 3 is stuck at Android 5.1 version but the apps still keep (auto-)updating. Should I stop updating the apps? Thanks.

I turn off Auto-Update just so I can choose whether to update each app. Your choice though.

App versions are independent of the Android version as long as the app still works with the Android version. Apps may still need to be updated regardless of the Android version for security and features.

Some apps, like YouTube, will stop working after a while if they are not updated. Some will get naggy and ask to update every time you try to use them.

Personally, I turn off auto updates and manually update the apps I use once a month. I don't bother updating things like Pinyin Keyboard, etc. that I never use.

    No, you need auto-update.

Agree that security can be an issue, but in my experience, more often than not an "update" seems to result in loss of features I want, the addition of "features" I don't want, or a combination of the 2. I tend to decide "updating" on a case by case basis.
