    S9+ consumer cellular hotspot issue

I'm hoping someone here can assist me. I recently purchased a galaxy s9+ off Ebay. It is a us cellular phone cdma that is unlocked. my network is consumer cellular on the att network gsm. The phone and data work well. I get emails and can post this thread in this forum. The problem is with the hotspot tethering. My mac laptop recognizes the phone. When I check the diagnostics it is green all the way to the ISP and then fails red at the isp. I've called CC and they have thethering enabled. My s4 att version worked as a hotspot so I know my service supports it.

Could the problem be that this phone used to be on the us cellular network which is CDMA? The person I purchased the phone from had me reset to factory settings but that didn't work either.

    Thx

are you using WIFI to tether to your laptop ?? try using either Bluetooth or USB connection for better results.

FYI: that phone uses LTE/VOLTE primarily. I have the same phone on Sprint. For now, it can switch to CDMA until your carrier suspends that technology.

I suspect the issue is if your carrier has provisioned the hotspot feature on your account. I suggest you contact customer service to verify.

Whether or not your phone is using CDMA or LTE/VOLTE should not make any difference.

Consumer cellular gas verified on three different occasions that tethering us enabled. It uses the att 4g/LTE network. my phone does say 4g at the top when
Where the bars and battery indicator is.

That's tough to diagnose. What version exactly is the S9+?
Settings>About Phone see the Model Number
It might be something in the original software if is not the Unlocked model (G965U).

I have a Sprint branded S9 plus with the same model number and hardware version. No problem here.

Did tier II tech verify your APN settings?

I don't think that APN setting requires tech support, they have it clear on their website:

unusual for USB / Blutooth tethering connection to fail, i've had WIFI connection fail lots of times. on your mac - choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Network. Click Assist me, and then click Diagnostics.)
