    Extremely slow tethering

I have Samsung s9 plus factory unlocked. phone always tethered right out of the box
on cricket. I'm driving through Ohio and Pennsylvania and I'm tethering my Android GPS system to the phone. I am on the 3 mb plan and my tethering was always around 3 megabits.
But today my speed test on Android GPS shows 120 kb. Speed test on the phone is about 3 megabits.
    Anybody else experiencing this issue?

No VPN. Don't think there is network congestion as the phone speediest shows 3mb. It's just the connected device is slow. I tried windows PC as well and tethered speed on PC is 120kb as well.

Rebooted phone several times. Forgot to mention that since phone tethered out of the box, I never had mobile hotspot as add on. My phone is not eligible for the add on any way since it's a BYOD.

Cricket has recently started throttling unauthorized hotspot usage.

    That makes sense.
However today speed is back to normal.
