    Carrier freedom from Sprint lease

I was wondering if anyone has taken advantage of the carrier freedom option switching from sprint? I’m in a lease with 4 lines/iPhones. I was wondering if there’s anything I need to know before trying to make the switch. Can I do it while in a lease on all 4 phones?

Did you mean to ask this on the T-Mobile forum?

Yes. I’m with sprint wanting to come to T-Mobile. I was asking if anyone else has switched from sprint to T-Mo with carrier freedom. Just trying to find out if it was a smooth process. That’s all

You can move the phones if you want, but Sprint will require you to pay off the device balances if moved while in the device payment timeframes.

I want to switch from Sprint myself but if I switch before April 2020 I still owe them $255 for my Samsung Galaxy phone bought last October.

    Carrier freedom from Sprint lease

Sort of a T-Mobile question though because the OP wants to know if T-Mobile’s Carrier Freedom will pay off his Sprint Lease. Lease’s are a bit more unclear because most of the programs say they pay off Payment Plans and Early Termination Fees.

From the documentation on the T-Mobile website it looks like leases are included.

    https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10031

Payments consist of (1) credit for device trade-in and (2) prepaid MasterCard Card in amount of carrier’s Early Termination Fee or remaining device balance, including lease purchase option if applicable, minus trade-in credit (expires in 12 months). Tax excluded. Submit proof of balance (limit $650 per individual) & 90+ days with carrier within 30 days of port-in and be active and in good standing when processed; allow up to 8 weeks.

Thanks for the heads up on that. Hadn't seen that information.

As I understand T-Mobile's Carrier Freedom promo, you have to trade-in your current device and finance a new T-Mobile phone to replace it. Here's the T-Mobile document that describes it. As with all trade-in promos, there are potential pitfalls, particularly if any of the trade-in devices are damaged in any way (e.g. chip on bezzel, etc). I'd carefully calculate the cost of paying off the trade-in devices and getting them unlocked, to port over, before committing to a Carrier Freedom trade-in. (Of course, that's just MHO. YMMV.)
