Received Wi-Fi Calling SMS on BYOD

Using a Pixel 3 on cricket and just got a text saying I'm eligible for wifi calling... Don't see the setting on my phone yet, but gotta reboot. Keep an eye out guys.

It's not really a question of if, more of a when. If they want to retire 4G they have to move everyone up to LTE.

I've rebooted a couple times, toggled data, toggled the VoLTE switch, nothing seems to have changed. Calls still drop to HSPA and says connect to mobile for calls. I'm going to try moving my sim into my old OG Pixel XL to see if I can force reconfig.

Edit: Swapped sim into my Pixel XL and it has no data, there's apparently data issues going on in my area today. I wonder if it's related...

Random infos, settings version on my XL is cricket_us-10000000277.2, whereas it's 278.2 on my 3.

Seems like a false alarm. Cricket Support assures me:
The text message you received is a system generated message and accidentally sent to you. I do apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

That's about what I figured, so no surprise to me. Still disappointing though.
