My 2GB T-Mo prepaid data only SIM works fine in my Test Drive device.

Is the 2GB plan at all useable after you reach the 2GB limit?

anyone tried it with a Mint sim ?
Should work on mint. Some people have used their Google fi data only sims in them with zero issues.

Putting the Test Drive SIM in my iPhone brings me to a page saying that the SIM won't work in this device type -- so the SIM is in their system as a hotspot/broadband device, and won't work in a phone. I was unsuccessful in getting it to activate in an iPad as well.

Putting my active iPad SIM in the Test Drive hot spot works fine. As suspected, the unit itself is locked to T-Mobile (an AT&T SIM doesn't work and prompts for an unlock code), though it may work with some T-Mobile MVNOs.
Should work on all TMobile mvnos. TMobile locked devices work fine on TMobile based carriers.

Sure. It's throttled to 128kbps after the 2GB, but that's fine for email and light web browsing and apps on my tablet.

Now that the device has been connected for the past few days plugged into a power supply it now works? It now has a phone number where it was dashes before.

    Hotspot

I tried the website and called the number and was told that since I was on Straighttalk I wasn't eligible. I said that I wanted to try the service in my area and was told to bad.

Has anybody here tried activating the SIM card in a device other than the Coolpad Surf?

I am just sort of curious if it would activate. I suspect that it would. Then, the next question in my mind is if the SIM would be locked to whatever device it is activated in.

The test drive was still available three days ago. I ordered one and received it today. It worked with no issues. It's a nice un-carrier move by T-Mo.

I have only tried it inside the house so far. I'm getting -115 - -110 dBm signal even in the most interior room of the house. This leads me to think that they may have finally lit up band 71 around here. The last time I tried T-Mo I was getting nothing inside the house and only weak and intermittent at a window.

The speed is usable, but not very impressive - 2.5-3.8 Mbps. I get 23 with Verizon and 8 with AT&T.

Will have to see if my 200 MB/mo. for life tablet SIM will work in it after my free trial is up.

Will try it around the area to see the state of T-Mo around here. Last time I checked with the tablet SIM it was pretty horrible. That was about two years ago.

Is anybody here planning on getting another one of these after the 6 months have passed from your previous device?

No, your address got blocked, if you are TMobile user's address or requested previously

See, that is exactly what I recall, too, but I tried last night and I could have sworn it said something about waiting until six months had passed. I must have misread that. Thank you for clearing that up.
