I use SignalCheck Pro to get information about the cell sites my device is connected to, signal, etc. In the past few weeks I've noticed a change whereas when I'm in a moving vehicle, my device connects to low bands - 700/800 MHz, but when I’m no longer driving around it will eventually switch to high bands.

My device is a Pixel 3, Android 9/August 1 patch, with Google Fi service - but I've also noticed the same "prefer low band while moving" behavior with my Verizon MVNO SIM. I'm not seeing this new behavior on my iPhone XS.

Did a recent Android software update, or other Google Fi or other app update cause this new behavior? Has anyone else noticed this? The behavior seems to make perfect sense as it should cause less dropped calls while driving due to low band's greater range and building penetration.
