    Pre paid unlock question.

Looking for flip phone for friend, found a vzw labelef cymbal model z233v, locked to vzwi imagine, never activated. Want to use with us mobile or red pocket's vzw mvno network. How to unlocked, or do we need to. Package of phone says must be activated in vzw prepaid for first month and first monthly payment made before using with other network. What's the best way to do this?

What does the line "before it can be used with another carrier" translate into. Pardon my ignorance on this subject. If it's locked, then it can't be used on another network, right?

That’s what it generally means. Such a phone needs to be unlocked by the cellular company that it is locked to. This can be done by calling them or meeting whatever conditions were placed before unlocking, such as Verizon’s 60-day lock on phones bought from them.

Verizon Prepaid has some different rules than Postpaid.
For instance, if not unlocked after fulfilling terms, you can't use a phone bought discounted through prepaid even on Verizon Postpaid. Reverse direction should work.

With these new policies for postpaid, I don't know whether it affects prepaid. Whether, even if you meet the other requirements, they can't be unlocked for 60 days.
iPhone X is my current primary phone. I have older model iPhones and Moto phones available on other lines. Currently prepaid, though would consider postpaid on right plan.
