Problem with Target system. Promo states $5 off cards $50 and over. Attempted to order two $50 AT&T phone cards but during check out only $5 discount was applied. Purchase totalled $95 for two $50 cards. Will have to make separate purchases in order to get discount for each card.
The problem isn't really Target's system, but a badly worded promo. It's not $5 off of $50 cards, but $5 off "when you spend $50 or more", so $5 is the max discount you'll get off of any one purchase of airtime.
The T&C of this promo is:
"Terms & conditions
"Save $5 when you spend $50 or more on prepaid airtime cards. Discount applied at checkout. Not valid on previous orders. Offer excludes items sold & shipped by Target Plus3rd Party Partners. Pricing, promotions and availability may vary by location and on Target.com. Offer expires 5/30/2020 at 11:59pm PT."

I hope gift cards don't become a trend but with the current situation, it is a better way to drum up business. According to the Target site: "Target GiftCards cannot be used to purchase any prepaid or specialty gift cards" so I couldn't apply the card to a future prepaid refill purchase.
I much prefer the % $ off promos and would be inclined to use CallingMart.

I don't really mind it, as I typically go to Target for enough things to burn that $10 off rather quickly. There was a point where they seemed fine with buying some gift cards with their gift cards, but have since restricted it—I think a lot of retailers have changed that policy over the last few years. The nice thing about their app is that you can load a bunch of gift cards onto your account (to avoid having to carry them) and apply them all to a transaction at once. I totally get the % or $ off promos being better for some people, especially if they prefer Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, etc.
Thie week at Target. Buy one prepaid airtime card or PIN and get 10% off a second one. Available brands include AT&T Prepaid, Boost Mobile, TracFone, Verizon Prepaid, Cricket Wireless, T-Mobile Prepaid, Total Wireless and Simple Mobile. Good through 11:59 PM PT 7/18/2020.

Thank you Yeswap - much appreciated
Spend $50 get $5 off prepaid airtime cards this week.
These Target deals are great...I noticed Callingmart now has AT&T promo down to 3% vs the usual 7%, plus with their credit card fee in most months Target works out to be a better deal.
