    text not working

    I manage an account for my mom.

    She has an old paylo plan with 400 minutes for $20 a month with a VMU Kyocera S200i.

    I am having a problem getting text to work.

    She never used text but I need it to get into her gmail account because gmail requires a phone verify by text to get into her email. Gmail sent the code but I did not get the text. I also tested sending a text from my phone and the text did not work.

    I tried calling the number which works.

    Under the inbox I only see VMUFreeMsg.

    When I go into her virgin account under text it says "Usage Info Unavailable" so I wonder if this plan has text.

    Does anyone have any idea why I am not getting text messages on her phone? This is an old phone so I wonder if it is no longer supported for text messages.

    Also the phone shows an icon with a circle with a line through it. Does anyone know what that means? I wonder if it means text is not working.

    1. Turn Wi-Fi off and Mobile Data on
    - Settings > Wi-Fi > Off
    - Settings > Data Usage > Mobile Data > On
    2. Check signal strength (3 bars, or 60% is recommended)
    3. From the dial pad enter ##72786# (press "ok" when prompted)
    4. The cellphone is going to update the Profile and the PRL and reboot automatically. That should take about 5 minutes, and then calls and data services should work.

    This is an old dumb flip phone so it does not have wi-fi.

    Also the plan has no data.

    I think it is suppose to have text on this plan but she never used text so I don't know if it ever worked. There are some VMUFreeMsg and the last one is dated 1-10-2019.

    Signal bars is OK because I tested that it gets calls.

    Also this verify by phone text to get into gmail is the only reason I need text.

    I have the correct password for her gmail but gmail says it does not recognize my PC so now it wants to text verify by phone. But I never gave google a phone number before on that gmail account so this does not show it is the person that owns the gmail account.

    I guess I could use any phone so I might use my own phone to get the text but I wanted to use her phone since it is her account.

    It is really annoying when gmail requires a verify by text to get into email even when you have the correct password.
