    Apple Locks Phones?

We purchased a phone outright from Apple and used it with Cricket Wireless. My mom was attempting to switch to Xfinity Mobile. We were told by Apple that Cricket Wireless locked the phone. Cricket told us Apple locked the phone. So has anyone heard of this??

    Thank you

    Apple Locks Phones?

Technically yes, Apple locks devices on behalf of the carrier. As it was said previously, resellers tend to have locked-upon-activation devices.

Though buying SIM-free directly from Apple should have kept it in the unlocking whitelist.

Have you tried a different (even a prepaid) SIM in the device? The device should activate/work with the new SIM if the device is truly unlocked.

ADDENDUM: so this is not a new question for the OP. OP should follow up on their correspondence with Apple (and follow the advice in the thread linked above) or find a different means to unlock the device elsewhere.
