    The end of cellnuvo?

Cellnuvo has devalued their "Gold" by 50%, including ALL balances earned in the past.

They also returned any and all gold that was being banked on a monthly basis regardless of how many months it has been banked for, even if it were on the verge of being paid out at 100% of value.

    They gave 2 reasons:

    1) Abuse by users
    2) It takes 4 months for them to get paid

At the same time, earning rates have plummeted even further. Many ads are paying out ZERO. People have stopped swiping.

It was an open secret that some users were sharing tips on how to get repeat ads to swipe. They used vpn's, reset advertising id's and other techniques. It seems that the ad companies realized that cellnuvo allowed this abuse to go on which meant that cellnuvo and it's users unethically profited by gaming the system. There were innumerable posts about these techniques as well as gloating by certain swipers on how they had managed to swipe the same ads hundreds of times.

The fact that the ads are now paying almost nothing indicates that the ad provider relationship with cellnuvo has changed significantly. Cellnuvo claims it is because ads in Q1 are scarce but the change itself came late in Q1 and there was no such scarcity of ads before the app was updated.

This smacks of poor management and opportunism by cellnuvo. The gold that was earned many months ago that was being banked on a monthly basis was already paid to cellnuvo so there is no cashflow issue there.

The scarcity of ads since the app update is the telltale sign of what is going on. Cellnuvo and it's users have been caught manipulating the system and the ad provider has rectified that. Slashing payouts and devaluing balances by half is cellnuvo's response.

Many users are now worried about whether they will be paid out in future so are cashing out their gold at 50% devaluation despite incentives to cash out later. This includes one of their biggest supporters who at the same time as withdrawing his balance is encouraging others not to worry.

Used to have a free line on cellnuvo when they just had a relationship with Sprint through a reseller. When that fell apart and I couldn't restore service, I bailed.
I wish the ad supported model would work for cellular, but I think it is more realistic to get an inexpensive paid prepaid plan and then pair that with ad supported apps that give cash or gift cards.

    Latest update:

Cellnuvo has totally removed the ability to cash out earnings.

There are also multiple reports of matured cash out requests being delayed.

Seeing that they only implemented the new cash out system 3 or so months ago (and just prior to that cancelled cash out requests that had been in progress for several months under the prior system) it certainly looks like they are short / out of cash.

Even worse, at the time they implemented the new system 3 or so months ago, in order to receive a 1:1 payout, the wait was set at 4 months. Predictably, a lot of people requested the 4 month payout and these look in real jeopardy now.

Installed new app for sole purpose of cashing out old balance of ~44 thousand points. Instant exchange points to dollars is non functional. Almost no ads or surveys available.

Uninstalling. Not worth my time. Much better ad supported game and rebate apps out there that pay honestly and promptly.

Following my last post, cellnuvo have finally confirmed they are not paying out at the previously promised rate.

It looks like the ad company they were working with stopped paying them a while back.

Cellnuvo says it will now only pay out at the non-subsidized rate.

What this actually means is that cellnuvo were either delivering or claiming they had delivered more ads than they were supposed to or really did deliver. For a while, they were getting income on an inflated number of ads as well as paying out on them. Then they got found out.

Cellnuvo owes hundreds of dollars to its app users and has eliminated all previously available options for users to request payment. They essentially refuse to pay up. They continue to list the app in the Play Store, with a deceptive description. No where do they inform people that they aren't paying for using the app. On the contrary, the description, lies.

It would be wise to leave a descriptive rating on the app store.
