    I'm getting some kind of Google feed when I swipe my home screen

    Maybe this has always been there but I just noticed it. When I swipe my home screen to the right I get some kind of feed. Using a Moto E7 with Android 7.1.1.

    I don't know what this is or why I'm getting it but I suspect that it's using data. How do I disable it?
    My smartphone is a lot smarter than I am.

    Well, see what have you installed last. Check the allowed notifications for all the apps.

    Apparently it is something called Google Discover.

    I can't uninstall it but I went through all the settings and disabled everything I could. On second thought I really, really want to know who Justin Bieber was last seen having lunch with in Beverly Hills, so maybe I should follow the celebs topic.

    I got it on my Moto G6. I think it is called Google Assistant and there are Discover settings. I don't see any way to get rid of it. FWIW, it's not using much, if any, data sitting idle to the left of the main home screen.

    Looks like Google Discover. As far as I know it can't be deleted.

    Customize what you see in Discover

    Step 1: Turn on Web & App Activity
    To customize Discover, turn on "Web & App Activity,” to save your searches and browsing activity.

    1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app Google .
    2. Tap More -> Your data in Search.
    3. Under "Google-wide controls," tap Web & App activity.
    4. Turn on Web & App Activity.

    Step 2: Choose the types of cards you want to see

    Add or delete topics you follow from the Google app
    On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app Google .
    Tap More -> Customize Discover.
    Choose topics to add or delete:
    Add: At the top, tap Follow Topics.
    Delete: Next to the topic, tap Remove. If you don't see this option, you haven't followed any topics yet.

    Delete topics you follow from your browser
    On your Android phone or tablet, go to google.com in your browser.
    Tap Menu -> Settings.
    Under “Discover,” tap Manage interests.
    Uncheck any topics you don’t want to see updates for.
