    G7

My wife has jumped ship from USCC and pre-ordered a G7 with FI. We'll see how good of a phone it is. We played with one at Best buy on Saturday, it seemed like a solid phone. I really envy how good the reception is on the Moto's, I hope it's the same on FI. We each use less than 1GB of data a month so FI is perfect for us.

I've thought about this phone as I need to upgrade from my Moto X4. The only downside of this phone for me is no NFC, which I will need when overseas. Otherwise, it seems like a solid phone.

Specs seem quite gimpy for the price.

A number of phones sold for Fi outside of the Pixel phones seem to be that way. I tend to lean more for OnePlus phones compared to what Fi is selling right now.

Moto G7. Motorola sent out an email about it last year and Fi has sent out emails about it this way.

Have you received the G7 yet? Gotten a chance to use it if so?

I would jump to Fi if they were to get the G7 Play model supported, as I'm looking for a Moto phone with Band 71 support.

    Waiting with baited breath...

She received it yesterday but hasn't activated it yet. Maybe tonight or tomorrow night. She's still backing stuff up for the changeover. She had over 3000 photos to back up to the cloud before she activates it. Started yesterday afternoon, only 400 left.

Let us know how it goes. I got a 64GB Nexus 6p as a backup for $50 the other day. Didn't know about all of the battery issues that it has, but a replacement and kits go for under $15 on Amazon right now. If it goes well, I'll get a second battery and get a 128GB one as well.

She is porting her number right now. We are less than a mile from a USCC tower so I expect her phone to be on USCC 99% of the time like my pixel. Will update in a few days.

So far she is pleased. A lot snappier than her Moto X pure. She's still playing with it, setting it up.

Be aware that according to Motorola's website the G7 does not have band 71, while the G7 Power and G7 Play do.

Exactly. It’s going to be a while before these latest bands (they’ll be more) or 5G are adequately dispersed throughout the cellular networks to make any real difference. Changes are coming for sure but for now, enjoy the G7. You won’t miss Band 71 at all.

Solid phone but the camera is nothing compared to my pixel 2. It's okay in daylight, but at night, not so good. Fash off makes it better. It's adequate at night but not great with the flash on. With flash off pics are okay. Good budget phone for the price.
