Complete Backup
Samsung Captivate USB drivers
A Windows computer higher than Windows XP if you are going to use the latest Odin version
Appropriate USB Cable
Download Correct Odin flashable Custom ROM and extract it (.tar and .tar.md5)
Install ADB and Fastboot tool
Odin v 1.85

Note: V 1.85 is the initial version of the Odin. So, you can only flash older versions of Android using the tool. If you can flash a custom ROM using this version most probably the device is compatible with the later version of Odin

How To Install Custom ROM using Samsung Odin v1.85

Before flash, your device makes sure to download the accurate Odin flashable Custom ROM according to your device.

1. Back up your device and Factory reset it
2. Visit and Download Odin v1.85
3. Install the programme
4. Right-click on the application
5. Run the programme as the "Administrator"
6. Remove both Simcard and the SD card from your device
7. Press Power button + Home button + Volume down button at once and boot the device into download mode
8. Now, run the Odin programme and attach the device to the computer
9. Let the Odin recognize your device
10. When the device is recognized, load the files in extracted Custom ROM files into the relevant fields
11. The relevant file has been mentioned the in front of each file name
12. After, loading click the "Start" button to flash the Custom ROM
13. Wait until you get the "Pass" message
14. Then,your device will reboot and you are running on the Custom ROM you flashed
