Speed when tethering - what should it be?

    Hadn't tried tethering for years.
Speed on phone is well into double digits.
Devices that we tried to tether were single digits. (Just one device tested at a time.)
GoogleVoice (domestic call forwarding and cheap intl. calls) Use GV to give us a "home" number in a 2nd location
8 T-Mobile lines - Unlimited talk and text, data. TM One plan. Get $10/mo. rebate on 7 lines for low data use. Net cost about $185-190/mo. We haven't had a landline in more than 17 years.

ONE is 512Kbps. ONE Plus is uncapped for 20GB though is subject to separate deprioritization than phone usage.

Only 1 of our lines ever reaches 2Gigs of data. Are you say speed is throttled, when tethering, right from the start? That makes it useless. Can we tether from a data only tablet?

If you are on a ONE plan, it will be 512Kbps forever.
