If you are planning to flash Samsung Oreo firmware on your Samsung Galaxy device you have to be aware a bit than flashing an another Android firmware since Oreo firmware use a new compression algorithm. A new compression algorithm named "LZ4 format" is used for Samsung's ext4 firmware files. Therefore if you plan to flash Oreo firmware you have to download Odin Tool v3.13.1 which has been specially updated to supports new firmware with compressed binaries lz4.

As same as the previous Odin versions you have to download and install Odin Tool v3.13.1 on Windows computer since it has not designed to install on other operating systems. But there is a way for Mac users to download Odin Tool v3.13.1 and install on their computers using Wineskin which is a free and open-source compatibility layer which allows users to install computer programs which have been developed for Microsoft Windows on Unix-like operating systems. Odin Tool v3.13.1 offers the following features.

How To Download Odin Tool v3.13.1

Please note that Odin only supports ROM files with “.tar“ and “.tar.md5“ extensions. Therefore please check the firmware file you download before the flashing process. Also get a complete back up of your device before proceeding.

Step 01 - Download Odin Tool v3.13.1 on your Windows computer
Step 02 - Extract the downloaded Odin zip file
Step 03 - Open the extracted folder
Step 04 - Double-click on the executable file

Note: If you are using previous version of Odin, You will get a message to allow “User Account Control”

Step 05 - Enable download mode on your device and connect it to the computer
Step 06 - Now, load firmware file on Odin as required and proceed
