Meng Wanzhou, Chief Financial Officer of Huawei Technologies—oh, and also the daughter of founder Ren Zhengfei—was arrested at Vancouver airport this past Saturday. She's currently in the process of being extradited to the United States; a bail hearing is set to take place tomorrow in New York.

Details on the charges are pretty vague; here's what has been reported to Canada's Globe and Mail

A Canadian law-enforcement source with knowledge of the arrest said the United States is alleging Ms. Meng tried to evade the American embargo against Iran, but provided no further details. The source was granted anonymity by The Globe because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly about the arrest.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think that violating a trade embargo would constitute an arrestable offence. And it's especially strange that the arrest was carried out on Canadian soil.

Update: Reuters is reporting that there may be charges of bank fraud as well. That's definitely more serious.
