As I mentioned, the Truphone activation was easy and done through their iPhone App. I wonder if T-Mobile is trying to set up their system using the TM app and that might account for the delay in the esim feature? I mean, it could barely be easier, you download the app, choose the plan, agree to terms, and pay with ApplePay if you have that. Otherwise I assume you'd just enter credit card info and wait for the approval. There must be more than Visual Voicemail that TM is not telling us.

When is dual sim support coming to the iPhone Xs?

I talked to tier 2 tech support at att and they gave me the date of 11/19 for official support of the esim. We will have to see how true that may be or not. Lol

Hopefully all the carriers will feel obligated to match that date, or even beat it if possible.

So did anyone get an eSim from AT&T today?

For fun, I decided to check with t-mobile and verizon

Me: Hello, do you have any update on when Verizon will start supporting the iPhone XS eSim?

Sara: We do! At this time, we are looking at a later release in December for the support of the iPhone eSIM. Apple will communicate with us at the time they are going to release the next update for their software and will be partnering with us for it to be used later next month.

Me: hasn't apple already released 12.1 that activated the esim?

Sara: Correct, they have. However with that software update, that provides a technical hurdle for several carriers, including us as it pushes the phone into a 2G system when the SIM is put in the secondary position. A later software update will follow to allow Verizon to better support the eSIM functionality to make it available for our users. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209096 -- Apple's website does provide that as of 11/15/2018, support for Verizon will be coming later this year with T-Mobile and AT&T falling into the mix as well.

Me: yeah, its really disappointing you guys couldn't get your act togather. Other folks including GigSky and True Phone have fully working eSim's right here in the US
    T-Mobile (via Phone):

Me: Hello, do you have any update on when you will start supporting the iPhone XS eSim?

Rep: blah blah blah, we promise to have it as soon as possible, blah blah blah, hopefully by year end, blah blah blah

Me: So the short answer is you have no release date yet?

Rep: Correct, T-Mobile is not yet publishing a release date

    T-Mobile (via Phone):
That is better than my friend got from them yesterday. He had a T-Mobile rep try and tell him that they were still waiting for Apple to release the software update that would enable the eSIM. He argued with her a while, finally got escalated to a supervisor, and the supervisor told him (again, he's actually talked to her back at the end of October when 12.1 came out) that it still appears it will be available on T-Mobile at the end of the year.

In an internal memo shared with 9to5Mac, Verizon is telling its employees that it now expects to launch Dual SIM activations for eSIM and physical SIMs in early December.
