    Yes, according to Chatr: https://www.chatrwireless.com/web/co...ssages_upgrade

But both Android phones have to be using the Android Messages app.

Bell and Virgin partnered with Samsung, so Advanced Messaging only works with recent Samsung phones while using only the default Samsung Messages app.

TELUS/Koodo/Public still don't support RCS, AFAIK.

Of course, the Rogers family -- Rogers (Rogers 1), Fido (Rogers 2), Chatr (Rogers 3) -- all support RCS the same using only the Android Messages app.

That sucks. Do you think Samsung and Google will kinda merge the tech so they work across all Androids around the world?

Oh, I should have mentioned earlier that Freedom Mobile is in the process of launching RCS now with Android Messages v3.6. So at least Rogers, Fido, Chatr, and Freedom are on the same page.

Samsung announced exactly a month ago that they're collaborating with Google to make sure RCS works seamlessly with both Samsung Messages and Android Messages: http://www.samsungmobilepress.com/ne...ng-for-android

Working together, Google and Samsung will ensure that their messaging clients, Android Messages and Samsung Messages, work seamlessly with each company’s RCS technology, including cloud and business messaging platforms.

Yeah, I found an article on Android central saying Samsung will make it happen on Android 9.

Yes, it works for me on Chatr! I'm using Android Messages v3.4.048 (the last version that let you set custom colours for your contacts) on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

My girlfriend is on Rogers with her Samsung Galaxy S5. I just switched her from Samsung Messages to Android Messages (the same v3.4.048 as me). When you install Android Messages, it says:

    'Do more with Messages
To get chat features, like messaging over Wi-Fi and data, let Messages stay connected in the background.

    LEARN MORE

Messages will share device hardware and SIM information with your carrier.

    NOT NOW, NEXT'

So I clicked on NEXT and a few seconds later I saw a large animated checkmark.

I then went into Settings -> Advanced -> Chat features. I think that's when it asked me to let Android Messages bypass battery power saving. The top three options under "Chat features" were all turned on:
    - Enable chat features: Use Wi-Fi or data for messaging when available,
    - Send read receipts: Let others know you've read their message,
    - Show typing indicators: Let others know when you're typing.

It took a few minutes after installing Android Messages before the typing indicators appeared on both our phones. When I send a message to her or she sends one to me, I first see "Sent", and then "Delivered". Once a message has been read, I see "Read".

I have to say...Samsung tech that bell us using is not as good. Let's say if you lose LTE connectivity, even if you're on wifi, it will switch back to regular messages. So it's a mix of chat and sms thru out a conversation. Apparently Android messages does it better.
