Activating iPhone Xs eSim on Bell

Was wondering if anyone has successfully activated the esim on Bell for the new iPhone Xs.

Phoned tech support and they didn’t know what I was talking about.

eSim won’t be enabled until a software update later this year.

Highly doubtful any Canadian carrier will let you use eSIM on network
    Koodo $40 Canada Wide + 8GB + 1000 Intl LD
    Public $120 Province Wide + 12GB - $6 Autopay - $12 Loyalty - $45 Refer = $19 per Month
    Freedom $35 ($37-BTS) North America Wide + 8GB + 1GB Roaming

Carriers need to implement the eSIM feature before it will work, and Apple offers a list of carriers that plan to offer the eSIM it in a support document.......plan to offer eSIM support, but the carriers likely won't roll out the feature until iOS 12.1 launches to the public.

I'm confused, what's the advantage to this eSim business?

Now you have to call your carrier to activate your device? Like old CDMA Blackberries? Seems kind of backwards to me...

I don't think you need to call them at all. The carriers and plans are displayed on device and you can activate one instantly. In theory it should actually increase competition a little bit, if one carrier lowered their rates everyone would simply flock to that plan.

We know our Canadian carriers are actually a monopoly though, so that thought is more reserved for the USA / Europe.

They said “This Fall”, even if it’s already advertised on their website.

I have a work and personal phone currently, both with Bell.. I’ll move my personal line to the esim and take the sim out of my work phone and put it in my personal Xs

Beats carrying around two phones, and can select which line the phone is sucking data from.

Supposedly I activated an esim at Bell online... Nothing yet, but the rep told me it could take upto 4 hours.

further to this, I found, the QR code online and then it activated!

    Anyone get it working yet?

You have to call into Bell / Virgin and give them your digital sim # and iccid. Then scan the bar code.
