5G Ultra Wideband Speed Test Thread

Post all of your 5G speed tests here. This thread will start out as a focus on Fixed Wireless, then will migrate towards Mobile 5G when that’s released next year.

Where’s the punchline? 4 cities for rollout with very spotty coverage... This feels like a cruel joke...

The reality is, Verizon doesn’t even start selling home internet until Oct 1st, so it will be a few weeks. With little saturation, what it is today vs 2-3 years from now will likely be very different results.

    VZW 5G isn’t real 5G.

That’s how millimeter wave works. It’s not some flip of a switch that enables everything overnight. It requires lots of planning, deployment of small cells, DAS, etc. There’s so much that goes into it all.

If it could have been done at once, I’m sure Verizon would have opted to do so. But it can’t.

I get it. just like 4G and 3G, etc. The killer here is the number of cells that have to be setup to make it all work. With as hilly as it is here, I’m betting they will have up to a 50% increase to make it all work. I’d hate to see really mountainous terrain...

As someone recently said about 5G fixed wireless, Rome wasn't built in a day. Verizon wants the good PR from being first. I expect we will see "First with 5G" beaten to death in the coming months.

Anything that is viable competition to the cable companies is a good thing. They deserve a big hurt from their decades of arrogance.

This video is crap, as is the affiliated tweet.

5G NR is based upon both LTE and WiFi signal processes that already exist, which has helped accelerate its rollout. The first 3GPP 5G standard, is based on using the LTE core.

This article is explains all of it.

This really sounds like someone from Qualcomm is butthurt, Verizon opted to buy Ericsson equipment, for 4G improvements and 5G rollout.

    Why? Who made you king?
When the first guy with fixed 5G will decide to post his results, he should make a tread about "post your 5G speed" and be the first in that thread.

5G Ultra Wideband Speed Test Thread

Too early for this thread. Maybe next year we’ll see screenshots of tests and more consistency lol. For now this gonna be crazy off topic. As the first few replies are any indication.

It's not early to create a thread like this. We have one for 4G as well. Fixed deployments begin in October.

Proly about 12 people in each city will be able to get this service, does seem a bit premature.
