In case the obvious police (such as TadMorose) have missed this
You obviously need to SEND YOURSELF the promo txt message (forward it)

That is how store does verification
Looks to see TXT then dials number to make sure SIM (number) is in service

Your new line will NOT pass validation online you MUST do activation in store
Most stores waive the $30 no questions asked
    Koodo $40 Canada Wide + 8GB + 1000 Intl LD
    Public $120 Province Wide + 12GB - $6 Autopay - $12 Loyalty - $45 Refer = $19 per Month
    Freedom $35 ($37-BTS) North America Wide + 8GB + 1GB Roaming

I'd agree it seems to be a security / fraud thing
If you do need to call in to do this, make sure they waive the fee for doing so

Hey all - just wondering if you know that one can get this plan with a current phone.

Currently a telus month to month customer and curious if I can go down to a Walmart, but the sim, follow the steps etc, and see if I can get this done without getting rid of my number and telus account. Afterwards I get the $56 plan, I would cancel it of course.

    TIA!

I ran this gambit last xmas for my wife for the $50/8GB plan. Can I use the same email/web account to register another line for myself for combined billing or is it better to keep thing separate?

    Plan expired on 4th

    But
Activate an extra SIM now (Public Mobile) and play waiting game
I am betting a Black Friday promo is coming

In past 8 months they have already offered:
    $40 - 4GB per month with $100 bill credit
    $40 - 5GB per month with $100 bill credit
    $40 - 6GB per month with $100 bill credit
    $45 - 6GB per month
    $45 - 8GB per month
    $40 - 8GB per month with $180 bill credit

Actually there was 1 more but I forget now....

Sorry to be a dummy but...

    - get a Public Mobile sim card and activate it online (not a Koodo one?)

    - wait for an offer from Public Mobile or Koodo and sign up to it

    - switch my current number from the new one that I get with my sim?

    Does that sound right?

If already on a QC plan, can you upgrade to these newer plan offerings?
Also, is a phone upgrade possible? My phone is already going to **** after just over a year :/

just clicked over to 12AM to start my 1st day of the new billing cycle and I have successfully switch the plan to the $56

Also to confirm the system allows to change the address after the first bill cycle as well.

Yes, but you have to start the whole process all over again. Get a new line with a plan from your province. At the same time you can get a new phone on tab. Change number to QC, then change plan in the new billing cycle. Port your existing number to Koodo prepaid or to Public Mobile and then port it on top of the new line.

They are not suckers. They still receive revenue they wouldn't otherwise get.
