Also depends on how big of a phone they want. The G6 is a good deal at $235 at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079Z3DX1W

Go for the Motorla G6!!! You won't regret it. I believe Verizon is even running a promotion on them currently. $5 a month.

Motorola makes excellent budget phones. Fast, good quality, and simple to use with near stock android experience.

The $6 per month for 24 months is a very good deal. They're selling it for $240, 2x the regular price. But I don't think you can just pay off the phone for $120 if you leave Verizon.

According to the details, this is done with a $5 credit every month, and you pay $5. So after 12 months there would still be $120 remaining to be paid off if you left.
iPhone 11 is my current primary phone. I have older model iPhones and Moto phones available on other lines. Currently prepaid, though would consider postpaid on right plan.

Thanks for all the responses. Decided to go with 2 Motorola G6s at $5 each per month. My dad and mother in law like them.

    Good choice.
My son has the G5 and is great. Battery last for days. I got a Incipio NGP cover that works well.

For my mom and similar, I'm in the practice of buying used flip phones for less than $50. Is there anything like that that supports VoLTE (she is currently using a Moto W385 and completely happy with it).

If you want a flip there are only a few options with VoLTE.
    kyocera cadence lte
    lg exalt lte
    DuraXV LTE
Sonim XP5 (candybar not a flip)

    ZTE cymbal prepaid

The cadence is probably the cheapest one to get second hand as it's the cheapest direct from verizon.

Yes, Thanks. I guess it doesn't have to be a flip, but it can't be a complicated smartphone -- need basic, basic.

The Cadence looks like the cheapest but the reviews seem pretty bad and not that cheap at about $100 used.

I've read that a ZTE Z233VL supports VoLTE and works, for $20-25... any confirmations?

That would be the ZTE Cymbal I listed above.

I don't know that you can get it activated on postpaid without it being on prepaid for a while or making a payment to that effect.

hmmm... there seem to be several different phones called Cymbal, including one that is actually an Android flip phone... they (all Cymbals) are getting bad reviews, so... look elsewhere I think...

I got a duraXV LTE as it looked like the nicest one out of the bunch.
The main dealbreaker for me with it was if someone sends me a picture I can't save it to my phone nor can I zoom the picture.

Most people have something like a 4-5.7" screen with pinch zoom on their smartphone while the flips are limited to 2-2.7" so you really have to have that option to compensate for what people send you.

And that is the most expensive flip right now.
