Why? She read your instructions incorrectly.

PureAPK was uninstalled yesterday. I reinstalled it just now to see if another uninstall would help. When I uninstall PureAPK, it does NOT show up in the Uninstalled Apps folder.

And, obviously, the settings are still not available to us.

For phones with a non-removable battery, there is a way to do a "battery pull". It works on my phone when things are messed up.

Hold the power button down until the phone shuts off and then restarts again. It takes a while, so get yourself situated when pressing the button so you don't accidentally let go. It's not really that long, but seems like it.

On my phone, it makes me have to re-do some settings, so it's definitely doing something.

The following is regarding a Moto E4, but it still might help, and it won't hurt.

The one with the APP selection and other options has a (*) beside those extra options with a note at the bottom of the screen (*indicates option available during FX Plus trial). The ones I downloaded were the free no ad ones. How the one on this one phone got a free trial period for the paid "Plus" version I don't know. Don't know how long the trial is either. Just wanted to let anyone know that if you download the free version you may not get that APP option (and other neat ones)...
So, if you can't get into app settings any other way, you could try the free trial of the FX "Plus" features as described above, and hopefully get into Settings app settings to clear Settings app data.

Does the launcher on the phone support long pressing the icon to get to app info?

I can do it from the home screens or from the app drawer with Nova.

Select the I in circle for info.

That's a good idea, but the stock LG launcher doesn't seem to support that, at least on my LG Phoenix 2 and my LG G Pad F 8.0 V495, with only Uninstall and Remove as options. But perhaps the Fiesta 2 is different?

The stock Moto E4 launcher DOES support going into app settings with a long press from the app drawer.

I thought it was added with N but I guess not consistently.

The phone vibrates and comes back to the LG logo screen. We never see Recovery Mode.
Timing is critical for getting into recovery on LG devices.
With the phone powered off, press and hold volume down and continue holding it though the whole process.
While continuing to hold volume down, press and hold the power button.
As soon as you see the LG logo, release the power button for one second then resume pressing it.
When the recovery menu appears release both buttons.

The key step is releasing the power button immediately after the LG logo appears. If you aren't quick enough the phone reboots normally.

By app drawer do you mean the process described by St Dog above ?
If so I could have tried that instead of going through FX to get there.

BTW, the trial period for FX Plus is 7 days. You first download the regular FX and then from FX settings hit Get FX Plus...you can select buy or free trial.

Yes, you could have tried that, but there's no guarantee that would have worked, since it has to be using the stock Settings to get there. But who knows?

Thanks for the clarification about the FX "Plus" trial. I will definitely keep that in mind if I ever experience that issue!

Safe Mode will probably allow you to open settings. To boot into Safe Mode:

    1. With the phone turned on press and hold the power button.
    2. When the power off menu appears, press and hold Power off
    3. You will be prompted "Restart in Safe Mode?". Press OK.

To exit Safe Mode, restart the phone.

It did NOT help in the case of the Moto E4 from the other thread referenced above. But it's certainly worth a try!

I had the same problem with one of my 2 for 1 Fiesta 2s.

    PROBLEM: com.android.settings is not responding

    1. Rstarted the phone.
    2. The problem persists.
    3. Restarted the phone in safe mode.
    4. The problem persists.
    5. Performed a factory reset.
    6. The problem did not return until one day later.

Went through the above steps again with the problem returning.

I chatted with TF to transfer my balances back to my previous phone so I could exhange the Fiesta2 with no service loss.

Emailed TF and they responded with trying the following.

    ===== TF RESPONSE

"On the other hand, we considered the error message as a bug. This can be
fixed by performing hard reset on your device. Once hard reset is
performed the data saved in your device will be wiped out unless you
backed up your Google account for recovery. In case you want to continue
with the hard reset, please refer to the steps below:

    1. Turn the phone off.
    2. Press and hold the following keys at the same time: Volume Down Key+
Power/Lock Key on the back of the phone.
    3. Release the Power/Lock Key only when the LG logo is displayed, then
immediately press and hold the Power/Lock Key again.
    4. Release all keys when the Factory hard reset screen is displayed.
    5. Press the Power/Lock Key to continue or either of the Volume Keys to
    cancel.
    6. Press the Power/Lock Key once more to confirm or either of the Volume
    Keys to cancel.

Once hard reset is performed, the error message should no longer appear.
In the event that the issue persists, please call us back on the below
hotline number and have your phone available on hand so that we can
check the internal settings of your device."

    ===== End of TF RESPONSE

The settings problem has not returned as of yet, but the phone is still inactive.

I'm going to wait awhile before transferring my balances back to the Fiesta2.

Not sure what the distinction is.

Factory reset should be the same where donne from the system menu or recovery

    So is the file manager.

Both are using direct links to the same system app.

There's actually a way to launch it from a command line (like a terminal emulator) on the phone. Same for any of the settings, hidden menus, etc.

The hard part is finding the correct command.

Thank you for the above info. (We are still wading through suggestions, etc., without a solution so far.)

I will say that the folks who engineered a phone to work the way you describe above should NEVER, EVER again be allowed to work on a product intended for use by ordinary consumers like my Mrs. and me.
