    No more Telus/Bell roaming—disappointed

We talked about this in the Speedtest thread but I didn’t want to hijack it so I started a new thread.

It seems that AT&T users can no longer roam on Telus or Bell while in Canada and that we are stuck with Rogers for most of Canada.

This is a major disappointment for Alaska residents such as myself because of the loss of coverage on the Alaska Highway through Yukon...Rogers has no coverage whatsoever in that entire region.

It’ll also be a disappointment for the thousands of summer tourists and all of the truck drivers/freight operators. AT&T markets itself as the carrier of choice in Alaska, and I think this is shortsighted of them...especially since T Mobile and Verizon continue to roam on all three carriers, Rogers, Bell, and Telus.

It also really bugs me that the AT&T Canada maps still include all the Bell and Telus coverage even though it’s no longer available.

Sorry to gripe, but it was always really nice having access to all three of the carriers—Bell, Telus, and Rogers.

Has it been confirmed with AT&T that customers can no longer roam on Bell and TELUS?

They dropped off the list of carriers available for roaming on the AT&T website.

I here that this is possibly because telus and bell signed with Verizon for VoLTE and this could be Verizon’s first inbound roaming agreement. Don’t quote me on this, but I think this could be the case. Anyone else have any insight? or AT&T and Bell/Telus could be at a disagreement over pricing.

Bell and Telus arguably charge twice as much as Rogers.

And perhaps do to a regulatory change last month, are unable to offer sweetheart deals, they have to charge the tarrifs they've filed...

I just have a feeling that’s wishful thinking. It’s unlikely that an AT&T prepaid brand has better roaming agreements than the postpaid brand.

It’s probably just an out of date website...just my guess.

Luckily Verizon still roams on bell and telus i was there last week perfect roaming on both even got 4G lte on my Verizon note 8 while roaming on them . But no volte yet every time I made a call my note 8 dropped down to H+ or 3G . Once I hanged up 4G lte would come back up . We were in Toronto My mom on At&t was stuck roaming on crappy Rogers only couldn't roam on the other 2. Even tho they were available she couldn't register on them. 🤣

    No more Telus/Bell roaming—disappointed

I was in Niagara Falls, Ontario and I roamed on Rogers And Freedom. It was okay.

For some reason on Freedom I couldn’t get Apple Maps to work.

    Verizon Wireless 3/2019 -
    AT&T 12/2017 - 3/2019
    Verizon Wireless 8/2016 - 12/2017

Doesn’t Verizon only allow 500 kps of LTE speed data a day? What’s that like when you hit the cap?

But it’s unfortunate for those who travel in areas of Canada where Rogers has no service.

500 Megabytes per day. And slow data is better than no service at all in huge areas of Canada where Telus/Bell is the operator.

True. Is Rogers the Sprint of Canada?

Shouldn’t they be able to roam on Rogers-EXT when native Rogers service isn’t available?

Nope. That’s a roaming agreement for Rogers customers.
