Better sound quality makes the other problems a little more tolerable.
Did you check what I mentioned above?

I've tried everything including a factory reset. I had the same problem with two phones and two notebooks. The problem has to be with Google. I really don't have the time to constantly be dealing with that nonsense.

Oh, I see. That's too bad. I don't know if I've just been lucky, or what the reason might be. I'm crossing my fingers that when I start testing the GV app later next week that I won't have any issues!

And yes, the missed call notification makes it not so bad. If it's only spam for you great. But the case for all.

I wasn't complaining, just explaining since MVNO!! didn't seem to know (odd if they use Hangouts though)

Well, I didn't wait until next week to try to test out the new VoIP calling feature in the GV app.

I signed up for a new GV # today and put the GV app on one of my phones.

Unfortunately, I don't see a "Make and Receive Calls" selection in the Calls settings yet.

So I still have to wait!

So, not on a new account.

You could try one of your other accounts.

Just sign in, select account, and look for the setting.

If it's there, then decide whether to enable/test or not.

No, not a new Google account, but I just got a GV # on it today.

I'll probably wait until it's enabled for the Google account with the new GV #. I guess I'm chicken to try one of my everyday use GV #s for now!

Why chicken? If it does not work well just go back in and turn it off.

Will Hangouts integration in Gmail's web client be affected? I'll stick with Hangouts until that one service is completely disabled or if a better option comes around.

GV did not effect Hangouts in anyway. I never used the GMail site though.

After a few days I just turned off GV stuff in Hangouts and uninstalled the Hangouts Dialer.

I find GV to be far better than Hangouts.

I've also had problems with my phone not ringing for incoming calls. Both with Hangouts and GV. With GV Wi-Fi, if my phone is on silent, it won't show any indication of an incoming call. I do receive the missed call notification afterwards.

The problem with Google is, everything they do, never works properly. Full of bugs. They never finish anything. I'm actually surprised they've developed GV this far. I thought they would have given this up by now, and moved on.

Google has internal number that tells them how much an app is being used. If it's popular, it gets development, if not it gets cut. Hopefully the increased functionality of GV will lead to more people using it, which leads to more development.....

I experienced that once in around 2012 or 2013. I haven't had a conversation that was anywhere close to 2 hours since then, so I don't know if it still happens, but based on your report, I guess it does.
