Cool The Future is Friendly™ - Essential PH-1 price drop

Following a similar move in the states, Essential is now just $650 CDN month-to-month/outright, or free on a 'regular' Premium plan. That's actually better pricing than I expected we'd see. Might actually be worth consideration at this price.

While that's a significant drop and very temping price, it's still cheaper to buy from Amazon US. I just bought from Amazon US the white version (which is not available on Telus) WITH the 360 camera, and after factoring in shipping and import fee, total comes in around C$800. It's only about C$65 more than buying from Telus (C$650+tax=C$735) WITHOUT the 360 camera, which they sell for C$199+tax.

The black version is $85 more than the white on Amazon.com; is that USD, or does Amazon automatically convert it based on IP? I think plans to launch the white version here were stalled by slow sales of the black (which has always proven to be the most popular colour).

Looks like between the time I ordered it a week ago and now, Essential stopped selling it directly on Amazon US at the US$499 price. All the sellers now are resellers. So now it may be cheaper from Telus.

Update: The Future is Friendly™ - Essential PH-1 price drop

As of today, the MTM price for the PH-1 is just $460. Can I keep resisting this urge to splurge?

They had it on Koodo during holidays for as long as $220 (If you had a $140 discount offer on your account) or $360 on tab medium.....

I was going to get it but spent too much time thinking and then grabbed a LG G6 for $220 instead when that went on sale again.

    Ouch.

I just bought a Pixel XL 32 gig for $600 10 days ago. I can't say I have regrets, though.
    Un-Rogered, and getting better 'value'.

Also I would put my money into ONE PLUS 5 instead of Essential, as Essential is kind of abandoned....ONE PLUS 5 has better support and same if not better hardware.

For those of us not willing to give up their $60/10 plan, $460 is pretty good for that hardware.

For those cellular enthusiasts out there, this phone supports an insane amount of LTE bands (all of Bellus' B2/4/5/7/(12/17)/13/26/29/30 and future 66) and it also supports the rare LTE bands used for fixed wireless (40, 42 and 43) by Telus and Inukshuk partnership. It is extremely rare to find a phone that supports that many LTE bands in one variant.

Has anyone actually tried this phone? I just had my G4 start to boot loop so I need to get a new phone but don't want to spend a small fortune.

I pulled the trigger on it a few days ago. I look forward to an amazing device, from what I've read. Awesome radio bands!

Get a good case for it, though. I hear spare parts (screens) are non-existent for repairs.

Essential is launching new colour variants, I wonder if there's a non-zero chance that Telus offers them?:

Telus is trying to dump their part of the deal with Essential as the phone was a complete fail sales wise.

I have absolutely 0 hope that they will ever sell any other color.
