Is Verizon really better then AT&T?

Any technicians have any insight on this? Is Verizon that much better?

Sure, if you wanna compare them as a whole. But in reality it varies on where you go.

Location is everything. Every carrier is better some places and worse in others. Except Sprint... they're bad everywhere. :-)

Yes location. And for me call quality. Coverage wise Sprint is good here, TM sucks. AT&T & VZW are best.

But the messed up call quality on the CDMA VZW backbone is a deal breaker. People say Volte but Volte don't mean **** because unless 6 things are operative 1&2 both parties have VZW Volte phones, 3&4 both have HD Voice enabled & 5&6 Volte is available in both locations.

So AT&T backbone for me. And I find the call quality on Sprint is better than VZW. Other than the Unicorn experience of VZW Volte I guess.

Technical correction. That hasn't been true in quite some time. Verizon and AT&T have HD voice cross compatibility now. Some markets have reported AT&T and T-mobile and/or Verizon and T-mobile cross compatibility. No markets have Sprint to AT&T/Verizon/T-mobile cross compatibility.

You should get HD Voice when VZ -> VZ and VZ -> ATT and ATT -> VZ. And even when not HD, I'm pretty sure Verizon's VoLTE codec is AMR 12.2.

Meh. I just ported 5 lines out from AT&T to Sprint.

I got tired of all my lines falling back to unusable "4G" which had very poor call quality.

At least I know and expect a subpar level of service with Sprint. Total opposite from AT&T.

Where I live Verizon is the best , travel 60 miles south of me and AT&T dominates. Again it's all about location.

Their both pretty much equal here in CT, but I would give AT&T slight edge.

Verizon Wireless is much better in my office park than AT&T but that's it.
But I do notice that Verizon has a slight advantage than AT&T at my house since I notice that AT&T is almost always -114 while Verizon hovers around -100. So far, coverage appears to be consistent in Los Angeles but I'm more curious if the same can be the said for where my mom lives.

That's like asking is an apple better than an orange. But for Verizon can you still not talk and surf on CDMA?
I like on AT&T that you could simply switch sim card to another phone.

Depends on location. In the St. Louis area and IL counties nearby I have found AT&T to have more cell sites than Verizon. But, in areas where AT&T & Verizon are co-located on the same tower, Verizon's signal carries further and penetrates deeper than AT&T. Meaning I would hold on to LTE with Verizon in places where AT&T would drop to 4G. And again, this is where Verizon and AT&T share the same tower.

Speeds are close between AT&T and Verizon.

Sprint is pretty good here as far as coverage but speeds are slow. T-Moble is terrible here. Not dense enough.

Nobody really is ever on CDMA anymore since devices come with VoLTE enabled out of the box. As for SIM cards you can do that on Verizon too. (You can usually get LTE to work even on phones without CDMA, though that's not ideal)

No problem using data while on the phone with Verizon, as long as you're using VoLTE.
