Is page plus decent for price

Looking to add a backup line that runs on Verizon. I can run either a smartphone or basic phone. Looking for least expensive overall so I figure basic phone may be the way to go. I'll need very few minutes or text and data not required.

Yes, for a 3G only, low use phone, PPC is one of the best. $10/120days, or ~$30/year, and remaining balance rolls over/builds up as long as you add a new $10 before the current balance expires.

I'll probably sign up for that. The $12 looks good also if I ever start using the phone for more than a few minutes

The 12 dollar plan isn't a very good value. Unlimited talk and text for $20 at boom mobile + far more data.

I use the $10/120 day plan to park my home phone number using an old Verizon 3G phone. That $2.50/month beats anything I could do with a landline. As Bozeman noted, it must be a 3G (not LTE) phone.

That's $12 per *month* instead of $10 for *four* months.
The dime versus nickle per minute *does* encourage a
change around 100-120 minutes a month.

My main line is with T-Mobile which means that when I go out in the boondocks, I frequently lose signal. My solution has been to keep an old flip phone activated on a PP PAYG plan. So far it's been very reliable. Note however, that PP does not work everywhere Verizon does. At least not according to their current map. So, you need to be satisfied with Verizon's native service.

Page plus sounds like its decent for the money. The customer service sounds like you may not get what you pay for but it's cheap so that's a plus

I am happy with my Page Plus service. I have found it better to contact customer service via email or online chat rather than a voice call.
