    Question: Freedom or Chatr?

    Hey guys.

I used to have Wind as my phone company. I really liked my plan, by the time I had Unlimited calls and messages and 6gb internet.

Now I have Chatr unlimited as well but only 4Gb.

Wind had a good 3G speed, but it was not reliable.
Chatr has 3mpbs 3G speed only but it is reliable.

Wind did not have a good call quality, always dropping or doing the weird robot voices.
Chatr has a good quality calls. I always can complete my calls!

Have you guys ever had any experience with both companies?

    Which one would you prefer?

I have been a long time basher of Wind
Went looking for a cheap cell for parents close to SQ1
Forget about Wind, no service anywhere
It is sad I need to state the obvious but some people just don't get it. Any posts I make are my own OPINIONS and in no way represent the views of my employer

I live and work near sq1, and I can tell you Wind works fine here. Much better than it did a few years ago when drop calls were more frequent.

Nowadays, calls are great but internet is hit and miss.

Freedom service is now pretty good as far as Voice is concerned. I would say try Freedom.

I think your problem is tower density. Because I was in an office building at Eglinton and Hurontario and signal and speeds were fine back in December.

5 bars and decent speeds. Inside Sq1 is fine.

You know where needs a tower? That's right, Yorkdale. 1-5 bars and constant loss of data, failures to connect a call? Insane.

I will never buy an HTC ever again! (two broke within 4 years, which were well taken care of)

Yes that I have to agree with. I think some places it got better, other places it got worse.

I live near ship drive, and whenever I'm there no signal. I can name a few locations near mississauga like that.

Meh, it's Rogers so try it out first. It could be better and it could be worst. When I'm looking for a WIND/Freedom replacement I to go Bellus because Rogers is actually worst for me in many areas where I need it, but for many other people, it's fine.

I only use my data when I'm not at home, or near any WiFi spots (ie home, work, relatives, friends places, ect). I never use the public Wifi, unless I have to. Even though I have a 5GB cap, all the heavy lifting is done at home. Some of it is done in the other places I mentioned.

The only thing my phone is set to auto update is the firmware and the weather forecast every 30 minutes when I'm not on Wifi (since it uses a combo of GPS and the Internet). Anything that comes in from Whatsapp or Skype comes in on both. All my apps on my phone are set to manually update from Google Play. But with me, I'm not for or against.

I will say this: Freedom can do better with building penetration and NOT force everyone to go out and get a new phone for Band 66. If they did 4 and 66, it'd be fine. For now my 3G service is fine. No complaints in East York. I'm also unlikely to get a new phone until that phone is compatible with Band 66. I just replaced my ZE551ML with a ZE552KL in November.

I'm just one of those people who's less likely to complain about speed. I still remember using 56k modems. You couldn't complain then. Then came the Soviet-era LANcity modems when Rogers first rolled out Cable Internet. Those things were paperweights, but the speed was right on the money. Now I have an Xbox One that eats 450GB a month. Last month was almost 668GB.

But when Chatr was Mobilicity, I never had an issue. The coverage area later on became an issue. Today, with Freedom, I have no issues. One reason could be that I'm not using a carrier branded phone.
