Niagara Falls this weekend, bad experience with Wind Away!

Wind signal is very weak in the Casino area. This Saturday I was at Niagara Falls and I lost signal in the Falls view Casino area.
Now the Interesting part was that although my phone was registered on Wind away (Rogers) it still could not receive/send call or text and this was to the point that I had to force my phone to roam on At&T or Tmobile's weak signal to be able to use the phone. Once I got locked to US networks I was able to use the phone as normal.

Any thought on this? At&T and Tmo of US more reliable than Rogers, why?
    WIND: Everywhere 50
    Unlimited CA/US Call, MMS, 11gb Data, 2400 min US/CA Roaming w/1gb Data

I've never had a problem anywhere in the Niagara falls area, in fact I've been over to the US side and still maintained a strong WIND signal. I was at a conference in Lewiston, NY last year and never lost a home signal right from the moment I crossed the bridge to the 2-3 days I was there. It wasn't until I drove home via some large mall for my wife to pop into one of her favourite stores that I lost WIND and hooked onto AT&T.

I am not dismissing what happened to you but I do find the fact one person can have a good experience while another doesn't rather odd. Could it be antennas? Could WIND's network down there be flaky enough to vary this much on a daily basis? Not being tremendously technically minded, I can't answer that, sorry.

Mind you I didn't not have issue with Wind around the fall or in the city and its just the Casino area that I was losing signal. But my point is that roaming on Rogers (Wind Away) was totally waste of time as the phone shows its connected but no calls would go through but hopping on At&T or TMo made difference and all calls would go through with no issues.

As Far as I know, National Roaming is almost all blocked where Wind has Native Network. So that's the Reason why you couldn't use your Phone on Rogers.

I am in Surrey, BC and in theory I am in Wind area, but I am always on Wind Away instead. I cannot receive or make calls or receive texts. This is because I am in the Wind zone and they will not allow it when on Wind Away. I am hoping that now that I have Canada wide roaming they will let me roam onto another network. Supposedly they are considering this concept.

Same issue around Ottawa. Phone goes to Wind Away (which makes it useless), sometimes Wind Away 3G (same issue) then Bell (useable).

    Good point,
I was under impression that the national roaming is only blocked in GTA. Now this makes sense why I was able to use the phone on At&T and not on Rogers..

I heard it at the Langley Wind Mobile store. They told me to be sure to write/email the powers that be at Wind to ask for this as the more requests the more likely it will happen. They said that it is being discussed.

I have the exact same problem at Fallsview. Thanks for the tip on forcing the US networks, I'll try that next time. It costs the same to roam on ATT or TMo, as Rogers anyway.
