    Bell VoLTE launch

No longer a Bell customer here but curious to see what customer experiences have been like since Bell soft launched VoLTE earlier this month.

According to the article (see below) it has only been launched for customers in Ontario on accounts beginning with area codes 416, 289, 647 and 905 with an updated Samsung Galaxy S6 device.

    Anyone?

My experience has been really good. Extremely fast call setup times (to landlines and other Bell VoLTE phones) and clear audio. No issues so far.

Good to hear. I wonder what sound quality is like between different carriers on a call both on VoLTE.

With the carrier settings 25.1 update in iOS 10 Bell has now added the option for voice and data over LTE in the carrier data settings screen, from what I read on the iphoneincanada post this is enabled on iPhones 6 and over. On my 6s plus, when I used my Bell tablet plan SIM it showed the updated menu but when I made a call, it reverted back to HSPA. Wondering if folks have had success making VoLTE calls on Bell with these devices.

With my Telus tablet sim: while they are running 25.1, it looks like Telus hasn't added the voice and data over LTE option just yet. Hopefully with Bell seemingly starting to roll out, they won't be too far behind.

While not groundbreaking at this point, I've had good experiences with Rogers VoLTE thus far. Hopefully when all they all have it rolled out we can get intra carrier HD voice.

Not all areas support VoLTE yet, so while your phone supports it, you also need to be within the VoLTE footprint in order to use it.

Yup, here is the link to Bell's VoLTE page where you can see the coverage area. It's basically only live in their 'native' coverage area, any other part of the coverage where Bell clients use another network (ie. Telus in Alberta/BC) it won't work.

I'm in the coverage area according to this (KW) but my service with Bell is just tablet, I use the SIM in my phone from time to time, so I'm not expecting VoLTE. Just nice to see it being rolled out further.

Note 7 and Note 5 - both no VoLTE in Toronto with a 416 number.

    No surprise there...

Very fast call set-up, less pumping of the audio feed and otherwise, business as usual. I've even had a few VoLTE to UMTS handoffs and they were barely noticeable.

    No surprises.

Please Note: I do not work for Bell. I also do not work for any wireless retail outlet.

Isn't the VoLTE launch just for iPhones right now?

People fight too much on this forum. Can't we all just be friends?

It was initially rolled out to just Samsung S6 in the early year and just recently rolled out to iPhones.
