For me I can not set any year date past 2015. was it the phones suspected lifespan ? lol !!

Yes, the phone's built-in calendar expires on 31st December 2015. The same goes for the 904SH that I have.
SoftBank made an announcement in the second part of 2015 but I can't find it now. Anyway, it's official - the calendar will not work in 2016 and beyond, and support for the 904SH actually ended on 30th September 2012, which means it ended even earlier for the 903SH.

Just checked my 904SH. As seen from the photos, the correct date is shown (but not the correct day -- it's Saturday today) on the Home screen but inside the menu no date is displayed. When I enter the date setting, however, I have the correct current date and time, although I see an error message (something like: Date not set).Originally Posted by crg_zinger1

It really is.
I remember the day I got my 903SH. I absolutely loved that phone. So much so, that I accidentally roamed from AT&T onto T-Mobile while on a family vacation.
The phone as a whole was incredible. To this day, I still remember all the stock ringtones that came with it.
Such good times.
