A little off topic, but can you explain the frequency differences between ATT and T-Mobile for 2G and 3G HSPA+ service. I understand the different LTE bands for data but I'm confused by the 3G frequencies needed to make calls and non LTE data.

The ATT Lumia 640 doesn't support 3G 1700MHz. How does that affect call service on T-Mobile since the phone does not support VoLTE?

I'm really confused about the differences in frequency support needed for ATT vs T-Mobile when it comes to non LTE bands. This seems kind of critical since most ATT phones don't support VoLTE so you are dependent on reliable service using 2G and 3G networks.

Most AT&T "Prepaid" phone don't support VoLTE. Almost all Postpaid phones support VoLTE.

Is VoLTE only supported by T-Mobile on LTE Band 12? So if your ATT phone doesn't support LTE B12, you are out of luck?

I didn't realize ATT post paid phones support VoLTE. Didn't know ATT offered VoLTE.

Going back to my original question, what non LTE frequencies are needed to have reliable call service on T-Mobile or MetroPCS using an ATT phone like the GoPhone Lumia 640?

    I don't know.
    I don't use VoLTE.
    I just use regular calling.
T-Mobile is very strong where I am so never had a reason to use VoLTE.

I'm sure that someone will probably be able to answer your questions.

Well I meant almost all AT&T Postpaid phones support VoLTE but AT&T can broadcast Band 17 as Band 12 so.

Last time I checked, it was $48.00 with a three day wait. Obviously, the unlocking services charges $48.00 to do what you can do for free yourself.

Look at this post from last week for instructions:

    Good luck.

    AT&T will do it free.
All 5 of the Lumia 640's bought by my brother and I have been unlocked free from AT&T within 2 days of requesting the unlock code.

For unlocking, free can't be beaten. Go to the AT&T unlock site and choose the non-att customer option https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/

just saw the ATT Lumia 640 on sale at walgreens for $41.99. Not a bad price if you can't find one for $29.

Much better than the 79.99 they were selling it for about a month ago.

Walmart online would also tell you it's not available online or in-store but I went in-store anyway and sure enough, they have bounty in stock for 29$. I also did the unlock online as non-att customer
