Depends on the person and the usage pattern? The average usage is less than 3GB per month for smartphone owners. I personally use 500mb per month because I have wifi at home and I am careful when out and about. 20GB would be way overkill for most people, but some apparently watch videos all day on their phones and need even more.

20GB should be way more than enough. I would guess that 5GB or less would allow you to do a lot of those things.

I wouldn't be surprised if FaceTime and Skype each can blow through over 1 GB per hour.

    0.1GB, 1GB, 100GB?

I'm sorry but it's kind of hard to know exactly want is enough. In general, average users that don't watch online video can get by with .5GB to about 2GB (according to the wireless carriers). 20GB is consider a lot on a single smartphone.

For most, video is the quota killer. 20GB to 200+GB could be needed.

Most smartphones have a data usage meter and limiter. Familiarize yourself with it so you can better gauge you data quota needs.

I think most wireless carriers let you backdate switching plans. So you could take a smaller tier and if your driving overages, switch to a larger tier before the billing cycle is finished. It's been a few years since I've done this, but I'd assume this still works.

My lines use social media like crazy I would say instagram and snap chat are huge data eaters 30GB +2 GB promo seems barely enough.

During the Blizzard and when my FIOS went out after 30 inches of snow, I learned that one can never have enough GB on their wireless plan.

I have 6 lines sharing 30gb and it is plenty. We usually see about 15-18gb total. Unless you are streaming netflix or using Skype all the time, that is WAY to much IMO. I have 2 kids that stream netflix several hours each a month (4-6 hours each) and we still only used about 8GB total.

    Four lines unlimited.
This month I'm 11GB with 6 days left.
My daughter uses about 15GB on a regular basis.
    My wife is about 7GB
The other phone is about 4GB.

20GB per line would be enough.
I would give up "unlimited" for 20GB per line but not less.
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. -- Daniel Webster
