New York (NYC, NJ) no weather alert through text?

My sister phone with AT&T received NWS weather alert, but my phone and other lines with T-Mobile didn't.
I thought it's text problem, but when I send text to other number and it worked.
    What's going on?

I'm in NH and I'm getting them. You have them enabled?

If you didn't get the alert, you don't have them turned on -- or possibly the phone doesn't support it.

I used to receive the NWS alert on until this blizzard.

I didn't get anything. I usually get flash flood warnings.

OT--but I check the weather multiple times per day anyway and my weather app 1Weather alerts me if there are any watches and warnings.

    See above articles.

    These are not APP based.

It goes by device location, so if you are away from the area affected, you probably won't get the alerts.
Also make sure you have a qualifying device/phone.

While I'm not in NJ/NY, here in S Texas our TMO iPhones & Galaxy phones get the NWS & Amber alerts around the same time as friends/family on At&t.

If you are in an affected area, and your TMO phone used to get the alerts but now doesn't, it must be something on TMO's end.

In Queens NY, my old Nexus 4 got the WX travel ban alert at 1:09 PM yesterday, while my Nexus 6P did not. I even disabled VoLTE and set it to HSPA, then restarted the phone, but no go. There was an Amber alert back on December 1st, which only the N4 got as well. Both phones have the same Emergency Alert settings, but the My T-Mobile site lists the 6P as an unknown phone, so this may be an issue on T-Mobile's side.

My wife and I found the NWS weather alerts too intrusive. In the summer every time there was a thunderstorm in the vicinity we would get blasted with alarms. I prefer to get normal alerts on my lock screen via my weather apps.
